How does an estate sale operate?
Skillful staff members begin to work several days before the sale, organizing articles by categories: Kitchenware, linens, clothing, books, furniture, garden tools, etc. They are attractively displayed with price tags on every item. The sale is then advertised and by the weekend everything is ready for the sale to begin. Security measures are taken to see that nothing is removed without paying for it. Receipts are giving to buyers as they leave with merchandise, and copies are retained as a record of each transaction. The few articles that are left unsold by the end of the sale are liquidated by competitive bids or moved to be placed in another sale. The house is thoroughly cleaned out, ready to turn over to the new buyer. Within two weeks of the last day of the sale, accounting and settlement is made with the client for the personal property.
